Why use hypnosis during your pregnancy?
Hypnotic childbirth is not a new approach! It has been safely used by Obstetricians in the US and Europe for over 200 years. Fortunately, more and more practitioners are getting certified; awareness has increased significantly over the past 10 years.
I am the product of hypnotic childbirth in 1968. My mother and father learned how to apply hypnosis to labor and delivery and was rewarded with an empowered birth at a time when the American public was beginning to embrace new cultural practices.
I have been helping pregnant women with hypnosis since 2002. Many Millennial families are returning to the less invasive practices like natural childbirth and breastfeeding. Perhaps you are living a more holistic lifestyle: using organic products, recycling, eating vegan or vegetarian, and limiting your carbon footprint. If so, you have likely been researching on-line terms such as “hypno-birth”, “green birth”, “natural birth”, or “mindful birth”. Better births always begin with hypnosis in order to empower the mother and father/birth partner while decreasing the anxiety and pain resulting in an increase of power and resiliency of the expectant mother.

Mindful Birthing
Mindfulness is an ancient practice of being in the moment, the now. The Tao teaches going with the flow and trusting your body's wisdom. Hypnosis teaches the birthing couple moving from 'doing' to 'being'. To view childbirth as a holistic, spiritual experience that is done in cooperation with unborn child. A woman's body always knows what to do-hypnosis strips away the fear, tension, and second guessing. Just a few minutes a day of practicing hypnosis/meditation can prepare you to comfortably and quickly move through the various stages of labor and delivery/birth.

The post-partum period can be the happiest or saddest time in a new mother's life. In the early days of parenting, you need help returning to a level of comfort and bodily function. Having a Baby Has Never Felt So Good.
Using hypnosis to produce an altered state in order to reduce anxiety and pain to assist in the birth process is well documented. However, it is not as widely known that hypnosis also greatly bemefits mothers in the first and second trimesters, as well as during the post-partum phase.
Pregnancy can be stressful. When both mother and child share a nervous system, stress can have unwanted consequences. When a mother feels stress, so does the baby. If a woman is overly stressed or chronically stressed, it can adversely affect the child. Hypnosis is able to help mothers to be more relaxed. A relaxed mom with a smooth, steady heartbeat is able to communicate a message of calm and safety to her baby. After the birth of your baby, whether at home or at a hospital, there are still potential challenges. There may have been complications such as a premature birth or a Caesarean delivery. Hypnosis has proven extremely helpful for lessening post-surgical pain. Many new moms and dads find themselves sleep deprived and have relied upon self-hypnosis to help them have more energy and alertness. In addition, hypnosis is also very useful in mood stabilization and stimulating lactation. |
